For this project we are featuring 3 hat factories: Walter Wrights Hat Factory at 2 Albion Road, which still produces hats and 2 other former factories, which are no longer operating factories; the Hat Works at 47 Guildford Street and The Gurney Building at 64 Bute Street: Web28 Jul 2024 · Hat Works is a 3 storey property, with a distinct façade of Luton grey bricks, stucco dressings and a Welsh slate roof. It is located at 47 Guildford Street, in the Plaiters Lea Conservation area of Luton. The factory was built between 1840 and 1850 with alterations and extensions made in the mid twentieth century.
